There are many challenges before democracy.
Some of them are as follows:
1)Economic inequality:
a)Democracy experiences limitationsin a society having poverty and unemployment.
b)Democracy finds it difficult to maintain democracy and at the same time tackle poverty.
c)When there is extreme economic inequality ,democracy becomes meaningless and social rebellion endangers democracy.
2)Personal liberty:
a)National security is regarded as more important than personal liberty in the present scenario of organized crime .
b) Personal liberty of citizens is curtailed to tackle terrorism .
c) The Government has to balance national security and personal liberty.
3)Challenges about participation :
a)People's participation is a core of democracy .
b)However,participation of most people is limited to voting as very few participate in the other political activities .
c)The initiatives taken by the people on public issues is very limited.It means that most people are not interested in politics.
d)The nature of government is complex .Therefore,it is impossible for the common people to participate in decision making process.
