In India , challenges faced to fair and free elections are:

1) Candidates that are not eligible or holds a criminal connection is able to secure a ticket with the help of major ruling parties.

2) The politically dominated parties tend to distribute tickets among their relatives.

3) Elections held, have very few chances of being fair as the ordinary citizens are intimidated beforehand so that their vote is given by others.

4) Independent or small parties are more affected as ruling parties dominate over them.

use of muscle power: they may threat the voter to caste vote for them.

criminals in politics: this leads to involvement of corrupt practices in elections.

capturing of booths: participants may capture a booth. carrying out malpractices to provide themselves with highest number of votes.

hardly any choice: voters find all the parties to have same promises so, it becomes hard for them to choose one particular candidate.
