baking soda is a chemical named sodium bicarbonate and it reacts with any base to form carbon di oxide but not when dissolved in water.
baking soda is a mixture of sodium bicarbonate and potassium hydrogen tartarate , which on dissolving in water produces carbon di oxide immediately .
