The writing of Indian history was profoundly influenced by the British after their arrival in India which followed a simple linear model. The historians added philosophical touch to the description of events and termed them as history. Historical events were recorded in the sequence of their occurrence and narrated in a way beneficial to writers or as viewed by them. As an example, British referred to the freedom struggle as mutiny or riots whereas Indians called the same as a struggle for freedom.
