The main / fundamental features of Democratic Government are :-

✪ Political Equality :-

One of the main feature of Democratic government is political equality. Political equality gives the right to vote to every citizen.It means all citizens irrespective of caste, creed, religion, race or sex are considered to be equal before law and enjoy equal political rights.

✪ Federal :-

Another feature of Democratic government is federal. According to Article 1 of Indian Constitution , India is a union of states. It describes that the states are autonomous. The states have full freedom in certain matters, and in some other matters they are dependent on centre.

✪ Provision for Rights :-

Provision for rights is another feature of Democratic government. Democracy system provides the individual dignity by giving various rights to the individual.

✪ Independent Judiciary :-

The Democractic government is characterised by independent judiciary. The judiciary is independent i.e., does not depend on executive or legislature. No government organ can influence judiciary.

✪ Right to Freedom :-

Another important characteristics of Democratic government is Right to freedom. It means in a democratic system, the people enjoy the right to freedom as a fundamental right. It includes the right to freedom of speech and expression, freedom of press, freedom of peaceful assembly etc.
