Villi are the fingers like projections which are presented on the outer wall of the small intestine.

The main function of these villi are to increase the surface area of small intestine to absorb the nutrients from food that we eat as the blood vessels present in the Villi can circulate it in the body.

It can increase the area approximately 30-fold and 600-fold.
