The methods for expansion of British rule in India were-
1.)outright wars-Battle of Buxar,Anglo-Maratha wars,Anglo-Mysore wars ,etc
2.) subsidiary alliance-The Nizam of Hyderabad was the first to fall under the subsidiary alliance.
3.)This was introduced by Lord Wellsley .
4.)doctrine of lapse-Rani Laxmi Bai was the first to fall under the Doctrine of Lapse.Later Nana Saheb also fell under this doctrine.
5.)This was introduced by Lord Dalhousie.
6.)pretext of alleged misrule-Awadh was conquered by this method.
