   Objectives of Taxonomy are :

1. Taxonomy targets at classifying organisms into taxa on basis of similarities in phenotypic characteristics i.e. characteristics

which are in an organism and is examined visually or tested by other means.

2.  Another taxonomy objective is assigning each taxon name.

This naming of taxon is called nomenclature.

Assigning name to an organism is necessary for identifying it without confusion throughout scientific world.

3. Objective of taxonomy is serving as an instrument for identification of bacteria.

Newly isolated organism is assorted to its nearest allies or is identified as hitherto unknown taxon.
