The origins of social differences are of two :
1. Accident of birth
A lot of social differences are due to accident of birth where social differences originate simply because we are born into it.
For example : differences such as tall , short etc.

2. By our own choices
Example: some people choose to be atheists were as others follow religions different than theirs .

In the case of Mexican olympics :
The athletes tommy smith and john Carlos were discriminated against simply because they were born into a family whose skin tone was black .
This along with many other social differences overlapped to become a social division as well .

Origin of social differences:

1.Most of the social differences originate by birth such as differences in colour, sex or religion. We all come to know about social differences that are based on birth in our day to day life.

2. Some of the differences are an outcome of our choices like the education or occupation we opt for or sometimes a different religion that we choose.
