"The main land connecting the Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal is called eastern coastal plains.

The eastern coastal plain is diverged in two parts i) north part and ii) south part.

North eastern coastal plains

The north eastern coastal plains are also called as northern Circars. The Chilka lake, with slightly salty water, in Odisha is the very biggest and longest lake in the north circars.

Mahanadi delta in Orissa, Godavari and Krishna rivers delta in Andhra and Kanyakumari and Madras coast in Tamilnadu region are the subdivisions of eastern coastal plains.
