The mariners were trapped in the centre of the sea.They were exhausted by the weather conditions.They felt suffocated by the harsh scorching heat of the sun and they had sore throats.

They were stuck at one point in the sea. The suffering of the mariners were very acute. They were very thirsty but can't drink water. Their tongues are withered at the root. Also they can't speak as if their throats were chocked with soot. They thus suffer greatly. They hung between life and death.
