Vitamins are organic molecules produced from the consumption of food. The vitamins help the organisms to perform proper metabolic activities. The deficiency of vitamins in a body constrains the metabolisms which cause problems in the functioning of the body. Some of the vitamin deficiency diseases are: vitamin A-keratomalacia, vitamin B1-Beriberi, Wernicke-Korsakoff, vitamin B2-Ariboflavinosis, Pellagra (vitamin B3), Paraesthesia (vitamin B5), vitamin B12- pernicious anaemia, megaloblastic anaemia, subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord, methylmalonic academia, vitamin C-scurvy, vitamin D-Rickets, vitamin E- Changes nerve membrane structure, vitamin K- impaired coagulation, osteoporosis.
