Answer: Viruses are known as on borderline because they are neither alive nor dead (Living or Non/living).

Virus have their own DNA and RNA but don’t have other cell organelles , they use their host’s organelles to carry out vital metabolic activities.

This means outside the host’s body they are inactive(somewhat like non-living) and becomes active inside their host’s body
