Brutus was a really good friend of Caesar. Cassius ( conspirator ) had told him that Caesar was becoming ambitious. He argued that rome was independent and if Caesar came to rule them, they would be treated like slaves.
the country would not be democratic as it was before. He told the plebeians that he loved Caesar and his great works that he had done for the good of Rome. But still he loved his country more and made people believe that what he had done was correct.
