In India population is very unevenly distributed
Physiography and climate play an important role in the distribution of population
Due to fertile land; plain land ; and availibility of water ; human settlements have been established in some parts for many centuaries
Due to farming industries and trade the proportion has become concentrated in a few places
For ex. Delhi;Kolkata;Mumbai;Chennai etc.
On the contrary in mountains * hilly regions ; dry desert areas; dense forests etc density is sparse bcoz of absense of facilities and tough life
