In the poem, the frog claimed to be a great singer of the bog and very well knew that the other animals hated his voice and even threw stones, bricks and complained. But he saw that every animal loved the voice of the nightingale. The frog, being cunning, said to the nightingale that it had the best baritone in the bog. The innocent nightingale, who had no belief on herself, fell prey to the luring words of the frog. The frog indirectly killed the poor bird by making her sing and made money out her.
Here, the frog wanted to get rid of the nightingale and hence it did it.
