A man might say women aren't meant for combat, while a woman might say men do nothing but watch sports. Such expressions represent gender stereotypes, which are over-generalizations about the characteristics of an entire group based on gender. While women were barred from serving in military combat in Western nations until the latter half of the 20th century, in recent times they have served in combat roles as capably as men. And while many men may watch sports, not all men would necessarily do so.

In most societies boys and girls are treated diffrently right from early age . Stereotypes govern the lives of children right from their childhood . Girls are expected to be soft - spoken and do household chores . They are given toys like dolls to play . Boys , on the other hand , are encouraged to be aggressive and dominating . They are given a toys like cars , and bat and ball to play . This is a way of letting them know that they will have different roles to play in the future . Even in terms of food , clothes and schooling , boys are given preferential treatment over girls .

Thanks .
