what difference would you find in your image as formed on a new stainless steel utensil and on an old one? why does this hapoen?

In a new stainless steel utensil, a clear shiny image would be formed as the surface is highly polished. In an old utensil the surface is less polished and the image is not that clear as compared to the new one. This happens due to the degradation of the alloy in the course of time.
