hello!
The organic compunds having the same molecular formula but differing from each other in physical and chemical properties are called isomers and the phenomenon is called isomerism.
Eg:Ethyl alcohol and dimethyl ether have the same molecular formula C6H6O but they completely differ in physical and chemical properties.
Ethyl alcohol belongs to the alcohol belongs to the alcohol family and dimethyl ether belongs to the ether family.
hope it helps... :)

Hello..
Isomerism are molecules with the same molecular formula but different structured differently.
Isomers can be split into 2 groups-
Structural Isomers
Stereoisomers
EXAMPLE
example :- you have 3 circles of same color, radius and mass. You can arrange 3 circles by putting next to another you can also arrange the 3 one over lapping the other. In the arrangements same mass, color but difference is arrangement of circles. This defines isomerism.
