What do you mean by 22 karat gold?

  1. Pure gold , known as 24 carat gold is very soft.
  2. So, it is not suitable for making jewellery.
  3. It is alloyed with either silver or copper to make it hard.
  4. So, they use 22 carat gold in which pure gold is alloyed with 2 parts of either silver or copper for making gold jewellery.
