Relative density means a ratio of densities which you are referencing upon here basically we choose water so relative to water's. Density we have silver's density as 10.8

Relative density of a material is the ratio of density of the the material and density of water.

So if we say relative density of silver is 10.8, it means that ratio of density of silver and water is 10.8.

Since density of water is 1 g/cm^3, density of silver will be 10.8 g/cm^3.

Density of a material is same as its relative density in g/cm^3.

RD = \frac{\text{density of material}}{\text{density of water}}\\ \\ 10.8 = \frac{\text{density of silver}}{\text{1}}\\ \\ \text{density of silver}= 10.8×1\ g/cm^3\\ \\ \text{density of silver}= 10.8\ g/cm^3
