When we heated penta hydrated copper sulphate crystals, it releases water molecules and gets dry. The chemical reaction occurs is shown below:
CuSO4.5H2O →CuSO4 +5H20
The blue color also changes to whitish gray.
If the heating process continuous, copper sulphae undergoes decomposition and turns into copper oxide and release oxygen and sulplur dioxide gas.
2CuSO4→2CuO + O2 +2SO2
