Answer:

a major fraction of the alpha particles bombarded towards the gold foil through it without any deflections and hence most space in atom is empty

some a-particles deflects a little so +ve charge is not uniformly distributed it is in a small volume

very few are deflected back and even fewer particles have 180 degree deflection so +vely charged particles in an atom is very small in volume in an atom
