onalchaudhari: valence shell means outermost orbit of an atom . octet means 8 electrons.octet of electrons in the outermost shell means 8 electrons in the last orbit. such atoms are called inert or stable elements

when a atom have 8 electron in its valance shell then it will be stable; so every atom have tendency to form a bond either it is by accepting electron or donating or by sharing of electrons so that they have octet of electrons in its valence shell.
