Tissue culture is a modern method of vegetative propagation or reproduction. In this method a piece of tissue is cut from the plant and placed in a nutrient medium under controlled conditions. This tissue grows into a mass of cells.

This mass of cells is then placed in a different nutrient medium which developed into a new plantlet.
