Citizen is a person who lives in a place and has to follow the laws of the place. Is entitled to the rights and privileges the government guarantees.

How citizenship is achieved⇒ Citizenship by birth⇒ Citizenship by naturalization.

All persons born or naturalized in the United Statesm and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States.

In the United States, a person can become a citizen by being born on United States soil, or outside the United States to a parent who is a United States citizen.

A person who is not born a US citizen can become one through naturalization. Many people become citizens through this legal process.
