 Acceleration is a vector quantity that is defined as the rate at which an object changes its velocity. An object is accelerating if it is changing its velocity.

hi friend
here's your answer looking for

before understanding what is acceleration let's first understand what is the velocity?

Velocity:- velocity is the ratio of displacement and time or in other words it is displacement travelled in per unit of time.

its SI unit is m/s.

mathematically,

v =  \frac{displacement}{time}

now after understanding what is the velocity let's understand what is the acceleration.

Acceleration :- it is the rate of change of velocity, means, it shows at what rate the velocity is changing with respect to the Per unit of time.

It's SI unit is
m \ {s}^{2}
if the velocity is changing, then with the help of the acceleration we can find the rate of change in it.

it determines, at what rate the velocity is changing with respect to the time.

mathematically,
a =  \frac{(v - u)}{t}
here,
a = acceleration
v = final velocity
u = initial velocity
t = time.

it is also of two types:-

1). positive acceleration

2). negative acceleration, deceleration or retardation.

Positive acceleration :- it determine the rate of increase in velocity with respect to the time.
it always gives the value in positive.

Negative acceleration:- it determine the rate of decrease in velocity with respect to the time. it is also known as deceleration or retardation.
it always give the negative value.

hope you understand and satisfied with my answer
