Snake was a guest and poet was comparing it to cattle as he was looking harmless and raising his mouth like that of cattle.

The poet has compared the snake’s drinking

habits to cattle because he was drinking the water

in a very relaxed manner. Moreover, he was not

conscious of the poet’s presence ; so, he satiated

his thirst by drinking the water at the water

trough.
