When Fe fillings reacts with the sulphur in presence of dil. H2SO4 , H2S gas is obtained the reaction can be written as
Fe(s) + S (s) + H2SO4 ----> FeSO4 + H2S
Properties of the H2S gas formed
i) it is an colourless gas
ii) it smells like an rotten egg
iii) it is used in the qualitative estimation of cations and anions in the mixture .
