What happen when dry apricots are left for sometime in pure water and lateral transferred to sugar ssolution

when dry apricots are left in pure water then they will swell up as water is  hypotonic solution but when they will be transferred to sugar solution then they will shrink and come back to its original size as sugar solution is hypertonic
