molecules of water gives colour to a crystal...it depends on the number of molecules present...when water molecules gets evaporated..crystal looses its colour and become colourless...
Example...
CuSO4.5H20 is a hydrated salt which contains 5 water of crystallisation and have Blue colour...
When CuSO4.5H20 is heated it looses its water of crystallisation become Anhydrous salt ( CuSo4)
which is colourless( just a white powder )..
