Chemical name of Quicklime is Calcium Oxide.
When Quick Lime reacts with Water we get Slaked lime[ Calcium Hydroxide] and enormous amount of heat is released.
So it is an exothermic reaction:
Chemical Equation :
Calcium oxide + water -------> Calcium Hydroxide + Heat
CaO(aq) +H2O(l) ------->Ca(OH)2 (aq)+Q
