what happens if you place zinc metal in acopper sulphate solution

The formation of zinc sulphate and copper will occur and the colour change in the solution from blue to colourless will occur .

Zinc is more reactive than copper hence it will displace copper from its compound of copper sulphate to form zinc sulphate. (It is also an example of displacement reaction)

Zn+ CuSO4 => Cu + ZnSO4
