A) When sodium acetate is heated with soda lime (NaOH+CaO), methane will be produced by decarboxylation. Sodium acetate Nd Soda lime (NaOH+CaO), on reaction give methane Nd sodium carbonate. This reaction is called decarboxylation Nd is one of the general methods to prepare alkanes.
B) The Ethanol is oxidised to ethanoic acid by adding the oxygen atom. This sodium is acidified in dilute suphuric acid. The ethanol also undergo the bacterial oxidation to form the ethanoic acid. The acetobacter bacteria uses the atmospheric oxygen to form the product.
