Answer:

Zn + CuSO₄ ---------------> ZnSO₄ + Cu

Cu + ZnSO₄ ----------------> No reaction takes place.

Explanation:

When we keep Copper and Zinc Sulphate Solution together for a very long time too, still no reaction will take place.

Why? The answer is because in the reactivity series of metals, Copper is placed below Zinc, ie, Copper is less reactive then zinc. So, it can not displace zinc metal from its solution. Hence, no reaction takes place.

However, if zinc is placed in copper sulphate solution, a displacement reaction will occur and zinc sulphate along with copper will be formed.

Zn + CuSO₄ ---------------> ZnSO₄ + Cu

Cu + ZnSO₄ ----------------> No reaction takes place.

Explanation:

on adding zinc to CuSO

solution, zinc displaces copper from copper sulphate & forms zinc sulphate solution because zinc is more reactive metal which displaces less reactive metal from its solution.

This is indicated by a colour change from blue to colourless.

CuSO

solution has a blue colour while ZnSO

solution is colourless.
