[1] It reacts and then give off bubbles of hydrogen gas and leave a colourless solution of sodium ethoxide (CH3CH2ONa).
[2] When Ethanoic acid reacts with sodium hydroxide then sodium acetate and water produced CH3COOH + NaOH+ CH3COONa + H2O

Hi Friend
I) When a piece of Sodium metal is added to ethanol Hydrogen gas is evolved as per the reaction
Reaction of ethanol with Na
C2H5OH. + Na -----> C2H5ONa + 1/2 H2
II) When ethanoic acid reacts with NaOH the wster molecule is removed as per the reaction
CH3COOH + NaOH -->CH3COONa+H2O
