What impression do you form of the postmaster after reading the story "THE LETTER"

In the beggining he was somewhat rude and indifferent. Bur when he finds himself in the same situation of Ali a change comes upon him. He is transformed from a mere official to a sensitive person.He could now understand the humar worth of every letter. He felt he should have been more sympathateic and helpful towards ali.
