Scalar quantity has only magnitude and no direction for eg distance whereas vector quantity has both direction and magnitude for eg displacement

The quantities which have magnitude only but no direction are called scalar quantity
- Example - Speed, Distance, Work, Volume, Energy etc.
The quantities which have got both magnitude and directions are called vector quantity
- Example - Velocity, Displacement, Force, momentum, temperature etc.
