what is a unit cell? how many atoms are there in a fcc unit cell?

Hi friend,
Unit cell is the smallest group of atom which has the overall symmetry of a crystal , and from which the entire lattice can be built up by repetition in three dimensions...

A fcc cell has a coordination number of 12 and contains 4 atoms per unit cell....i hope it helps you
