The absolute refractive index of any medium is the refractive index of the medium with respect to vacuum. It is always greater than 1. When light goes from vacuum to another medium, then the value of refractive index is called absolute refractive index.

AnkitJangraSahab1258: what its formula
AnkitJangraSahab1258: hloo
AnkitJangraSahab1258: ???
AnjaliSapkota191: Refractice index = speed of light in the concerned medium / speed of light in vaccum.

It is simplified to

Refractive index= sin( angle of incidence)/ sin ( angle of refraction)

The ratio of the speed of light in vacuum to the speed of light in that medium.

mew =speed of light in vacuum /speed of light in that medium.
