• Acid rain :- When the pH of rain falls below 5.5 than the rain is considered as acid rain.

The acid rain is mostly consist of oxide of sulphur and nitrogen .


° When the pH of soil falls below 6 then it is considered as acidic soil.

• How to check the pH of soil ?


° Take the sample of soil.

° Mix it with water.

° Filter the mixture.

° Put the pH paper in the filterete .

° Observe the value by pH scale.


• By mixing CaCO3 ( calcium carbonate )
we can make the pH of soil slightly basic .
