HELLO MATE!
Rain that has harmful chemicals in it from factories, etc. that causes damage to trees, crops, buildings and rivers. At the same time, the acid rain causes the release of toxic substances such as aluminum into the soil. ... Forests in high mountain regions receive additional acid from the acidic clouds and fog that often surround them. These clouds and fog are often more acidic than rainfall.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!♥

ganavi240: But how does it effect monuments
sadafhasan786: As it falls on monuments it cause corrosion.
madhu12487: I have explained

chandni164: Acid rain damages buildings and structures because it dissolves the stone or corrodes the metal that is exposed to the weather. Before people became aware of the problems that acid rain caused, they often used metals, limestone and marble as building materials exposed to rain and fog.PLEASE MARK AS BRAINLIEST!!♥
sadafhasan786: For eg..nowadays the colour of taj mahal has been yellowish due to nearby industries creating pollution leads to acid rain....which is fadind the colour of taj mahal
chandni164: I thought it was mountains...
sadafhasan786: It's ok

hey mate here is ur answer

acid rain

rainfall made so acidic by atmospheric pollution that it causes environmental harm, chiefly to forests and lakes. The main cause is the industrial burning of coal and other fossil fuels, the waste gases from which contain sulphur and nitrogen oxides which combine with atmospheric water to form acids.

affect on monuments

Acid rain occurs when there is a high content of aerosols in the atmosphere. Aerosols like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide reacts with water molecules in the clouds and becomes sulfuric acid and nitric acid which precipitates over the region where the cloud is. These aerosols are emitted into atmosphere both by man made process like industries and natural process like volcano.

When monuments are considered they are either stone or steel structures. Acid rain corrodes steel structures (Eiffel Tower) and weathers stone structures like any temples of South Asia, statues, age old churches in Europe and pyramids of Egypt. But the extent of effects of acid rain depends on the acidity and the duration of exposure to such rains. Higher the acidity and longer the duration the effect would be severe.

hope this helps u
