◆ Electromagnet -

• Electromagnet is a soft metal core made into a magnet by the passage of electric current through a coil surrounding it.

# Determination of pole of electromagnet -

1. First of all, suspend the magnetized iron bar using string.
2. Iron bar end which stabilizes to north pole of earth is actually south pole of magnet and vice versa.
3. Now bring one end of electromagnet towards south pole of iron bar.
4. If electromagnet gets attracted to south pole of iron rod, it must be north pole of electromagnet.
5. If electromagnet gets repelled from south pole of iron rod, it must be south pole of electromagnet.
