Answer:

An electromagnet is a magnet that runs on electricity. Unlike a permanent magnet, the strength of an electromagnet can easily be changed by changing the amount of electric current that flows through it.

Explanation: An electromagnet is made from a coil of wire which acts as a magnet when an electric current passes through it. Permanent magnets can retain their magnetism and magnetic properties for a longer time.

Permanent magnets can retain their magnetic field for more time whereas electromagnets are only till when the current passes.. permanent magnets poles can not be changed but electromagnets poles can be changed by changing the flow of current.

I hope this helps :-)

Electromagnets :-

The magnets which is easily magnetized by passing current and easily demagnetized is known as electromagnets .

The material which is used to make electromagnets are :-

AlNiCo and Nipermeg are two alloys which is used to make electromagnets.

The difference between electromagnets and permanent magnets are :-

  • The permanent magnet has fixed strength. The strength of electromagnets can be increased or decreased.

  • Polarity of permanent magnets cannot be changed. The polarity of electromagnets can be changed.

  • Permanent magnets don't loose their magnetic property easily. The electromagnets easily loose their magnetic property.
