Aqueous is water or another term for it. Think of an aquarium (same start of the word, a big tank of aque). Usually the term is used in talking about if something dissolves in water. Most charged compounds (salts) dissolve in water. Other compounds that are polar — something not charged like a salt but with positive parts and negative parts — are also often soluble in water.
