The atmosphere is comprised of layers based on temperature. These layers are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere and thermosphere. A further region at about 500 km above the Earth's surface is called the exosphere.

Earth's atmosphere has five major and several secondary layers. From lowest to highest, the major layers are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere.

Atmosphere is the thin layer of air that surrounds the earth. It is made up of various gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxides, dust particles and water vapour. The gravitational force of the earth holds the atmosphere around it.

The atmosphere can be divided into layers based on its temperature, as shown in the figure below. These layers are the troposphere, the stratosphere, the mesosphere and the thermosphere. A further region, beginning about 500 km above the Earth's surface, is called the exosphere.

\Huge\bf { \color{pink}{\underline{\color{nav}troposphere}}}

the lowest layer of the earth’s atmosphere, between the surface of the earth and about 6 to 10 kilometres above the surface

\Huge\bf { \color{red}{\underline{\color{nav}stratosphere}}}

The stratosphere extends from the top of the troposphere to about 50 km (31 miles) above the ground

\Huge\bf { \color{pink}{\underline{\color{nav}mesosphere}}}

The mesosphere is a layer of Earth's atmosphere. The mesosphere is directly above the stratosphere and below the thermosphere

\Huge\bf { \color{red}{\underline{\color{nav}thermosphere}}}

The thermosphere is the layer in the Earth's atmosphere directly above the mesosphere and below the exosphere

\Huge\bf { \color{pink}{\underline{\color{nav}exosphere}}}

The exosphere is the outermost layer of the Earth's atmosphere. It starts at an altitude of about 500 km and goes out to about 10,000 km.
