The nucleus of the parent cell divides several times by mitosis, producing several nuclei. The cytoplasm then separates, creating multiple daughter cells. In Binary Fission a single parent is split into 2 daughter cells whereas in multiple fission a single parent splits to form many new daughter cells at the same time.
