Binary fission ("division in half") is a kind of asexual reproduction. It is the most common form of reproduction in prokaryotes and occurs in some single-celled eukaryotes. After replicating its genetic material, the cell divides into two nearly equal sized daughter cells.

Hi!

Explanation: Binary fission is the process of cell division (asexual reproduction) in prokaryotic organisms by which the parent cell divides into two genetically identical cells. DNA is copied. DNA molecules attach to the cell membrane. The membrane elongates and pinches off. Two new, identical cells are produced.

1. Asexual reproduction

2. Two genetically identical cells

3. Very rapid reproduction

Hope this helps!

Have a great day!
