Biogas is a gaseous fuel that is produced by the break down of organic matter e.g. agricultural waste, manure, plant material, green waste or food waste It is classified as renewable energy. It can be obtained from the anaerobic fermentation of carbohydrates in plant material or waste by bacteria. It is mainly composed of methane, with some carbon dioxide and other trace gases. The function of biogas is to be used as energy like electricity and for heating or cooling substances.
