Woofers are the cone in a loudspeaker that produces the low frequencies or bass signals. They in essence woof like a dog with a low voice. They are made of paper, plastic polymers, metal or fabrics. Tweeters are the high frequency cones or domes that produce the high frequencies or treble, thus tweeting like a bird. They are much smaller in size than woofers.

Amplifiers are totally different from woofers and tweeters. They amplify the musical signal to make the sound louder or softer when using the volume control. They operate electrically and electronically and use voltage and current (amperes) to produce watts, which drive the woofers and tweeters. They are made up of electronic parts such as transistors and resisters. In home equipment, they are separate from the speakers and are typically found in receivers. Receivers are amplifiers with radio tuners in them.
